Courtney Watts in a PhD candidate in the English department working on medieval romances in English and French. She is interested in the use of topos in the romance and in the way that the Middle English concept of kynde can help us undeerstand the way readers and writers of the romance were thinking about race, gender, sexuality, class, and species. She is also interested in manuscript studies and the romance across time. She is currently a Graduate Representative for the Medieval Studies Program.
